Rukungiri LCV Chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama Urges Residents to Celebrate New Year Responsibly

Rukungiri: Rukungiri District LCV Chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama has cautioned residents to be mindful of their lives and property as they prepare to welcome the New Year 2026.

Kyomukama made the remarks on December 30 during an interview at his office at the Rukungiri District Headquarters in Rukungiri Municipality.

He noted that people will celebrate the New Year in different ways, including attending overnight prayers, going to bars, driving vehicles and motorcycles, and attending various festivals. He advised them to celebrate responsibly and safeguard their homes and property to prevent theft during the celebrations.

Kyomukama also warned drivers against drinking alcohol and driving, and reminded them to control their speed since many people will be using the roads on New Year’s Eve.

He further advised the youth to avoid engaging in bad habits such as excessive alcohol consumption and drug abuse, saying these could lead to violence, loss of life, or imprisonment.

As the country heads toward the 2026 general elections, Kyomukama urged the public to vote for leaders who will transform their communities through improved service delivery.
