Rukungiri: Rukungiri Institute of Management and Health Sciences on December 21, graduated 130 students during its 10th graduation ceremony held at the school premises in Bunura Cell, Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
Speaking at the event, the school’s academic registrar, Benoni Tugume Kishaya, revealed that among the graduates in various certificate and diploma courses, 80 were female and 50 were male. Tugume encouraged the graduates to remain exemplary, professional, and ethical in their fields.
Tugume commonly known as Ben urged them to be job creators rather than job seekers, emphasizing that Uganda today needs skilled individuals.
The school director, Samuel Kamugisha, thanked parents for prioritizing their children’s education, noting that the skills imparted to the students are tools that will serve as a lasting legacy. Kamugisha advised graduates not to underestimate any job and to take up opportunities, even those with modest pay, to build their careers. He also commended the Ugandan government for liberalizing education, which has made learning accessible to the community.
The chief guest, Professor Rev. Canon Medard Rugyendo, highlighted that the courses studied by the graduates serve as pillars for their future endeavors. He encouraged them to embrace their respective fields with passion and use this foundation to further their education. Rugyendo also urged parents and graduates to promote the school within their communities to attract more students.
Addressing a pressing concern, Rugyendo cautioned female graduates against falling victim to exploitation in exchange for jobs. He condemned the practice of sexual harassment in the workplace, calling on women to remain faithful to their values and avoid compromising their dignity for employment.
