
Rukungiri District to Build Classrooms, Halls, and Latrines in FY 2025/26
Rukungiri: Rukungiri District Local Government has unveiled plans to support several schools with the construction of classrooms, multipurpose halls, and latrines in the 2025/26 financial year.
According to the District Secretary for Education, Commercial Services, and Tourism, Cledonia Musiimenta, the district will construct two-classroom blocks at Mabanga, Katojo, Kabuga, Kakindo, Bikurungu Centenary, and Rwamagaya primary schools.
A multipurpose hall will be built at Bikurungu Centenary Primary School, while another hall at Nyabushenyi Upper Primary School will be completed.
In addition, the district will construct five-stance latrines at Kyamutareiga, Kakoni, Murago, Nyanganjara, Rwenshama, Nyakagyeme, Ikuniro, Katonya, Munyeganyegye, Kahenge, and Kihanga primary schools. Rwamagasha Primary School will also receive a latrine with a changing room for girls.
The district further plans to complete unfinished classrooms at Kiganga, Nangara, Nyarubare, Bishops Kasheshe, Ihimbo, and Rwakanyegyero primary schools, as well as renovate some classrooms at Bucence and Omuburama primary schools.
Musiimenta revealed that construction of Bikurungu Seed Secondary School is ongoing, while Rwamagaya Vocational Secondary School will receive a new three-classroom block.
She urged school stakeholders to safeguard the new and renovated facilities so they can serve their intended purpose and provide value for the money invested.
