Rukungiri District Football Association Calls for Support in 4th Division Fixtures
Rukungiri: The Chairperson of the Rukungiri District Football Association, Amos Arinaitwe Buhe, has called on politicians and well-wishers to support local football clubs participating in the upcoming 4th division fixtures.
He emphasized that financial support is crucial for teams to successfully complete the competition.
Arinaitwe made the appeal during a meeting held on March 27, at New Palm Hotel and Gardens located in Rukungiri town. He highlighted challenges such as lack of facilitation for essentials like water, transport, and food, which negatively impact players’ performance and careers.
The meeting also aimed to set a date for the election of new association leaders. It was agreed that elections will be held on April 6, 2025. Additionally, fixtures for the 4th division tournament were confirmed, with matches set to be played at Kanyinya Playground and Kashenyi Secondary School starting May 2, 2025.
Arinaitwe revealed that only seven teams will participate in the competition, and four teams will advance to Zone Six playoffs to determine those qualifying for the regional league.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Referees in the Rukungiri District Football Association, Memory Gumisiriza, raised concerns over some referees lacking updates on game rules, leading to errors during matches.
Gumisiriza urged 4th division referees to resist bribery, as it could compromise their careers. He also encouraged them to maintain physical fitness, stressing that football officiating requires integrity, endurance, and good performance.

The Technical Manager for Rwakabengo Sports Club’s girls’ team Davis Akampa, called on the public to support women’s football. He noted that the sport has gained financial opportunities and can help girls secure scholarships through their football talents.
Akampa urged parents and guardians to support young girls in developing their football skills, as it can open doors for both education and career advancement.
