Rukungiri district Councillors urged to sensitize citizens on water maintenance.
Rukungiri: Rukungiri district Councillors have been advised to visit their respective areas and sensitize residents on how to maintain water and their sources.
The advice was on Wednesday 28th February 2024 given by Dr Godfrey Wakwabubi, a doctor working with National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Mbarara branch while speaking to councillors in a meeting held at the Rukungiri district council hall in Rukungiri municipality attended by the Rukungiri leaders and technocrats from the National Water and sewerage corporation.
Dr Wakwabubi urged leaders to educate and sensitise the people who fetch water from boreholes to contribute little money that will always be used in maintaining water sources.
He added that if people are sensitized, it will help them access constant clean water for home use. He also urged people to protect the wetlands and the forests.
Deus Twekwase, the Rukungiri district water officer, on the same note urged the public to protect the water sources in their areas for their own benefit.
