
Rukungiri District Awards UGX 1.94 Billion Contract for Bikurungu Seed School Construction
Rukungiri: Rukungiri District Local Government has awarded a contract worth UGX 1.94 billion to Kinombe Nyaruzinga Construction Company Limited to build a seed secondary school in Bikurungu Town Council.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on February 25, in Kanyankwanzi Cell, Eastern Division, at the site where the school will be constructed. According to the contract, the school will include six classrooms (each block containing two classrooms), two science laboratory blocks, an administration block, two twin teachers’ houses accommodating four people, an ICT library, latrines for staff and students, and kitchens for both staff and students.
The project, expected to cost UGX 1.94 billion, is scheduled to be completed within 18 months. However, Nshabire Godfrey, the director of Nyaruzinga Construction Company, expressed confidence in completing the project in just 12 months, citing his 20 years of experience in handling similar projects.

Rukungiri District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Hajji Swaliki Wasswa Masokoi, urged the community to embrace the initiative, noting that the school will boost development in the area by increasing land value. He encouraged locals to invest in residential and commercial structures to accommodate teachers and provide essential services such as food.

The Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) for Rukungiri Kellen Kagisha, who was the guest of honor, assured the public that the district will closely monitor the project to ensure quality work. She urged the contractor to maintain high construction standards and encouraged parents to support the school by enrolling their children once it opens.
