Rukungiri Council Plans for Nairobi Tour despite Funding Challenges.

Rukungiri: The chairperson of the Finance and Administration committee in the Rukungiri District Council, Suzan Abinsinguza has announced that her committee is recommending for a study tour in Nairobi, Kenya.

Abinsinguza who is the female youths representative in the council made the revelation on Wenesday August 28, 2024 during council session.

She mentioned that if funding constraints arise and persist, the tour could be held in Bukedea district.

The district council welcomed and supported the committee’s recommendation to proceed with the study tour in Nairobi. 

However, District Speaker James Turyamubona, who also represents Kebisoni sub-county, asked the Rukungiri District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Hajji Masokoyi Swalink Wasswa, if there were sufficient funds available for the tour.

In response, CAO Hajji Masokoyi admitted that the district currently lacks the necessary funds but requested for time to secure the required support.

He informed the council that if the Nairobi tour proceeds, the district would not cover all expenses, meaning councilors might need to fund part of the trip themselves.

Turyamubona expressed his appreciation for the initiative and assured the council that, even if the tour is delayed, it will eventually happen.
