Rukungiri Corporate League Concludes 2025 Season After 9 Months of Tight Competition

Rukungiri: The 2025 season of the Rukungiri Corporate League has officially concluded after nine months of intense competition, with Pureflow from Mbarara City emerging as football champions and Kisizi Hospital crowned volleyball champions.

According to the tournament founder, Maurice Tumwesigye, the league kicked off in March 2025 and wrapped up on November 2, 2025. The event was hosted in Rukungiri District and featured corporate teams from both within and outside the district.

Tumwesigye revealed that a total of 18 teams participated throughout the season, competing on a monthly basis. He noted that the league is an annual event, running from March to November each year, and encouraged more corporate organizations to join in the coming seasons for networking and talent development benefits.

However, Tumwesigye expressed concern about the poor state of Rukungiri Stadium, saying it has affected the smooth running of the tournament and contributed to inconsistencies among participating teams.

The guest of honor, who represented Gen. Henry Tumukunde, the NRM flag bearer for Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament, Peter Kakurugu, commended all teams for their participation. He urged parents to allow their children to engage in sports, noting that it has become a professional career that can help nurture talent and produce quality players from Rukungiri District.

Kakurugu further assured the public that Gen. Tumukunde has prioritized the rehabilitation of Rukungiri Stadium among his key development plans once he assumes office in Parliament.
