Rukungiri Commercial Officer Urges Journalists SACCO Members to Practice Financial Discipline

Rukungiri: The Rukungiri District Commercial Officer, Grace Tayebwa, has urged members of Rubabo Journalists Emyooga SACCO to use SACCO funds wisely and strengthen financial discipline within their organization.

Tayebwa made the remarks on March 11, during the SACCO’s Annual general meeting held at Country Radio premises in Kifujo Cell, Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

She advised members to practice financial discipline and avoid taking loans they cannot repay, noting that failure to pay back loans can lead to financial problems and stress.

In addition, she called upon members to recruit more people into the SACCO, noting that increasing membership will help generate more income and strengthen the institution.

The Chairperson of Rubabo Journalists Emyooga SACCO, Jackline Tumuhairwe, commonly known as Auntie Jackie and also the Station Manager of Country Radio, thanked members for their commitment to growing the SACCO.

Tumuhairwe encouraged members to embrace the culture of saving and purchasing more shares to strengthen the SACCO.

She revealed that the SACCO started with only nine members but has now grown to 23 members, with a target of reaching 50 members by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Rukungiri District Emyooga SACCO and the Rukungiri District Artists Association, Pastor Laban Ainembazi, explained that government financial support is meant for groups rather than individuals.

He also reminded both incoming and existing board members that their roles are voluntary and not financially compensated.
