Rukungiri Church Leaders Urge Christians to Embrace Peace, Love and Humility as They Celebrate Christmas
Rukungiri: As Christians across the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, a section of church leaders in Rukungiri and neighboring districts have today December 25, called on believers to embrace peace, love, forgiveness and respect for parents as key pillars of Christian life.
Preaching at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano in the North Kigezi Diocese, Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe reminded Christians that Jesus Christ is the true source of lasting peace.
He stressed the importance of honoring parents, saying that despite their weaknesses and human flaws, they deserve respect and love.
Bishop Asiimwe said some people distance themselves from their parents because of past mistakes, but encouraged them to instead show love, forgiveness and support. He added that parents’ shortcomings do not determine anyone’s destiny and urged believers not to allow the devil to steal their hope.

At Ihunga Pentecostal Assemblies of God in Nyarushanje Sub-county, Rev Onesmus Kawene urged worshippers to thank God for the priceless gift of His love made flesh through Jesus Christ.
He encouraged Christians to receive Jesus Christ as their personal savior in order to fully experience God’s love.
At Nyakishojwa Catholic Parish in Mitooma District, Rev Fr Babiisiima Deusdedette called on Christians to share joy with others so that Jesus may be born in their hearts. He emphasized love, helping the needy, forgiveness and supporting one another as the true meaning of Christmas.
At All Saints Church Rujumbura Archdeaconry in Rukungiri town, Retired Archdeacon Rev Elisha Wasswa advised Christians to buy physical Bibles instead of relying only on mobile phone Bible applications.

While leading Christmas service at Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi Church of Uganda in Buyanja Sub-County, Rev Syson Gumisiriza encouraged churches to invest in development projects to boost income instead of depending entirely on Christians.
He urged believers to be humble, saying God set an example when His son Jesus was born in a manger.

At the same Parish, the Head of Laity Ben Tugume praised Christians for clearing their diocesan contributions and revealed development plans including buying a parish vehicle, registering the church primary school, and titling church land.
At Christ the King Catholic Parish in Rukungiri Municipality, the parish priest Rev Fr Viann Byaruhanga encouraged Christians to enjoy the love of Jesus, who came to save humanity from sin.
He urged Christians not to call themselves poor, saying God has blessed them with knowledge and ability to work and overcome poverty. He warned that poverty can isolate people and lead them into temptation and hatred.

At Nyabushenyi Church of Uganda in Nyarushanje Sub-county, Rev Edward Nabasa said those who intentionally absented themselves from church will be judged according to God’s word.
At God’s Embassy Church in Rukungiri Municipality, The Bishop of the National Fellowship of Born-Again Pentecostal Churches in the Kigezi region, Bishop Onesmus Ngoboka, has appealed to Christians at God’s Embassy Church in Rukungiri District to be trustworthy and honest with one another.
Bishop Ngoboka asked believers to be trustworthy like Joseph, who faithfully cared for Mary when she was pregnant.
The Bishop further urged Christians who were unable to afford meat or rice during Christmas not to quarrel or separate from their families, but instead to pray and trust God, who is the giver of all blessings and will lead them to His glory.
