Rukungiri CAO Hajji Swalihk Wasswa Masokoyi Transferred to Kaberamaido

Rukungiri: The Rukungiri District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Hajji Swalihk Wasswa Masokoyi, has been transferred to Kaberamaido District in Eastern Uganda after serving in Rukungiri for four years.

Masokoyi revealed this on October 18, during an interview with our news reporter at the Rukungiri District Headquarters. He said he received his transfer letter on Monday from the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Rukungiri for their cooperation and support during his time of service, especially the district leadership, whom he praised for their commitment and integrity in executing their duties.

Masokoyi noted that when he was first posted to Rukungiri, the district was ranked 127th in the national assessment of service delivery conducted by the Office of the Prime Minister. However, in the last financial year, Rukungiri rose to 8th position nationwide, and he believes the district will rank among the top two this year.

He also highlighted improvements in local revenue collection, saying that four years ago, the district collected about UGX 800 million annually, but now it raises over UGX 1.5 billion.

During his tenure, Masokoyi oversaw the construction and rehabilitation of several schools, including three seed secondary schools in Nyakyishenyi, Kebisoni, and Bikurungu Town Council. He also supervised the building of staff houses for health workers, road rehabilitation, recruitment and promotion of government employees, and promoted mindset change among civil servants.

He urged district leaders to uphold the legacy he built together with other district heads, including the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) and the LC5 Chairperson, to ensure continued progress and development.

It is reported that Fredrick Byekwaso, the current CAO of Pallisa District and a native of Nakasongola, is expected to replace Masokoyi as the new Chief Administrative Officer of Rukungiri District.
