Rubabo Elect MP Rwabugumi Launches Communal Work to Rehabilitate Kigina Bridge

Rukungiri: The Elect Member of Parliament for Rubabo County, Mathius Mwesirwa Rwabugumi, has launched communal work to rehabilitate Kigina Bridge along Kisiizi Road in Rukungiri District.

The bridge connects Nyarushanje Market in Nyarushanje Sub-County and Kebison Market in Kebison Sub-County, serving as a key route for residents and traders.

Speaking to our reporter on April 4, Rwabugumi said the bridge has been affected by water flowing from surrounding hills, making it difficult for people and goods to pass. He noted that its rehabilitation will ease transportation and improve trade in the area.

Residents, including Moses Maganya, Patrick Owoyesigire, and boda boda rider Enoch Mucunguzi, said they have long faced transport challenges due to the poor state of the bridge. They expressed optimism that the rehabilitation will improve movement and boost business in the area.

They also appreciated Rwabugumi for supporting the exercise with a tractor to facilitate the works.
