
Rotary Rukungiri Installs Sofia Turyabagyenyi as 2025–2026 President
Rukungiri: The Rotary Club of Rukungiri has officially welcomed Sofia Turyabagyenyi as the incoming president for the 2025–2026 term.
The installation ceremony was held on June 21, at Rukungiri Inn Hotel in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
During the event, Turyabagyenyi noted that leadership in the Rotary Club is rotational, with each president and committee serving a one-year term. Her tenure will begin on 1st July 2025 and run through to 2026. She said her focus will be on key Rotary areas such as disease prevention and treatment, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, water, sanitation and hygiene, environmental conservation, as well as peace building and conflict prevention.
The outgoing president, Saul Katazahansi, thanked the members for their support during his term and welcomed the new leadership. He noted that the club has worked peacefully and united as a team to deliver services to the community. He also shared some of their achievements, including planting over 500 trees in different areas like Makobore High School.
Representing the Guest of Honour, Minister of Security and Rujumbura County MP Hon. Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, the Resident District Commissioner of Rukungiri, Stephen Nsubunga Bewayo urged the Rotary members to remain committed to service delivery, reminding them not to let politics divide them as the country heads into a political season.
