Retired Head teachers Urged to Engage in Activities that Promote Mental and Social Well-being

Rukungiri: Retired head teachers have been encouraged to engage in activities that promote mental alertness and social connections.

This message was delivered on July 8, by the Chairperson of the Rukungiri Retired Head teachers Association David Kampiira Turyazayo, during a meeting held at the Rukungiri District Headquarters.

Kampiira highlighted that the purpose of their gathering was to foster solidarity among retired head teachers from primary, secondary, tertiary institutions. He emphasized the need to ensure that retired educators are not forgotten in their communities, and to encourage them to organize themselves for district support, as well as to share knowledge and skills that aid survival and professional growth.

He noted that the association was officially formed on January 25, 2023.

The Chairperson of the Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) Rukungiri Branch ,Lovencce Biriho, advised retired head teachers to consider engaging in politics as a way to remain connected with their communities, keep their minds active, and continue contributing meaningfully to society.

A retired head teacher Paddy Twesigye, stressed the importance of the association in mobilizing and supporting retired head teachers and encouraged others in villages to join and actively participate.
