Residents of Nyibanga Cell Launch Communal Work to Rehabilitate Kikonkoma Road

Rukungiri: Residents of Nyibanga Cell in Ruhinda Sub-county have officially launched communal work to rehabilitate Kikonkoma Road, which connects Rusheshe Road to Rweshaka main road.

Speaking to our reporter on October 10, the LC1 Chairperson of Nyibanga Cell, Dickens Niwamanya, together with residents including Edson Tumwebaze, Julian Tayebwa, and Doreen Kembabazi Doreen, confirmed that the road has long been in a poor state, making it difficult to transport both people and goods such as bananas and other farm produce.

Niwamanya explained that the rehabilitation of the road will ease transportation, boost trade, and improve community welfare. He praised residents for their teamwork and dedication, describing the communal work as a sign of unity, hard work, and the spirit of driving positive change within the community.

The LC3 Chairperson of Ruhinda Sub-county, Hellen Kabajungu, also commended the residents for their efforts, noting that the road’s poor condition had greatly affected the transportation of goods. She urged the community to continue working together through such communal initiatives.

Isaac Kaharuza, who represented the Minister of Security and Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County, Gen. Jim Muhwezi, applauded the residents of Nyibanga Cell for their commitment to development. He revealed that Minister Muhwezi had supported the initiative by providing essential tools such as hoes, hand axes, spades, and pangas to facilitate the work.

Kaharuza added that the tools will not only help in road rehabilitation but also empower residents to develop agricultural and income-generating projects. He advised them to keep the tools safe and use them responsibly so they remain in good condition for future use.
