Residents Launch Communal Work to Rehabilitate Ryarugambwa Bridge in Buhunga

Rukungiri: Residents of Ryarugambwa Cell have officially launched communal work to rehabilitate Ryarugambwa Bridge along Karisizo road, which connects to Rwemburara market in Buhunga Sub-county.

Speaking to our reporter, the LC1 Chairperson of Ryarugambwa Cell, Ivan Kusingura, confirmed that the bridge links Kitokye and Ryarugambwa cells. He noted that the rehabilitation will ease transportation of both people and goods. Kusigura urged the government to support residents in completing the project.

The LC1 Vice Chairperson of Ryarugambwa Cell, Charles Byamugisha, together with residents Brian Niwamanya Rubarema and Samuel Tindyebwa, a boda boda rider, said they have long struggled with transport challenges. They expressed optimism that repairing the bridge will improve the flow of goods and services, stimulating economic growth in the area.

According to the LC3 Chairperson of Buhunga Sub-county, Benon Mugisha, the residents’ communal work is commendable as it shows hard work, unity, and a spirit of driving positive change in the community.

Mugisha explained that the road from Karisizo to Rwemburara market up to Mitooma District falls under district responsibility. However, he urged residents to continue working together through communal work. He also called on district authorities to support the completion of the project, which will improve access to health facilities and boost economic activities in the community.
