Religious Leaders in Rukungiri Use Easter to Call for Spiritual Renewal, Family Unity, and Moral Responsibility.

Rukungiri: As Christians across the globe celebrated Easter Sunday on April 20, religious leaders in Rukungiri District used the occasion to urge believers to reflect on their spiritual lives, strengthen family bonds, and uphold moral values.

Delivering his Easter message at Emmanuel Cathedral in Kinyasano Ward, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, reminded believers that the day is meant to honor Jesus Christ, who rose from death to life.

Bishop Asiimwe called on Christians to uphold truthfulness, forgiveness, and unity during the Easter season.

At Christ Believers Temple, located in Nyamayeje Trading Centre, Rugongi Cell, Rwentondo Ward, Eastern Division, Evangelist Alfred Mugaru Kaharata encouraged both the youth and the general public to stay away from bad habits such as excessive alcohol consumption during this holy season.

Mugaru warned that high levels of alcohol use, especially among young people, pose serious risks to their health and future.

He also called upon parents to play their role in guiding their children, particularly by educating them about the dangers of alcohol abuse.

At St. Francis Nyabihinga Catholic Hiika, under Nyakibale Catholic Parish, the catechist Gaudence Mutabazi called on women to behave well, love, unite, and respect their families, reminding them that women are the strong pillars of the home.

Mutabazi urged the women to continually pray for their husbands, noting that few men are born-again Christians. She emphasized that if both parents fail to pray, it may lead their children in the wrong direction, exposing them to sin.

At Rujumbura Archdeaconry in Rukungiri Municipality, the Archdeacon, Ven. Dickson Kakanyisa, urged Christians not to treat holy days like ordinary days.

While delivering his Easter message, Ven. Kakanyisa expressed concern over people using the occasion as an excuse for drinking alcohol and irresponsible behavior.

He reminded Christians that Easter is a sacred period meant for spiritual reflection and embracing Jesus Christ. Ven. Kakanyisa emphasized that believers should not miss any opportunity to receive Christ into their lives.
