
RDC Nsubuga Flags Off Tallying of NRM Votes in Rukungiri
Rukungiri: The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Rukungiri District, Steven Nsubuga Bewayo, has officially opened the tallying of votes for the NRM flag bearers following today’s primary elections.
The exercise is taking place this evening July 24, at the Rukungiri District Council Hall, which is serving as the district tally center. It involves various positions including councilors for municipality ward divisions, division councilors, LC V district councilors, municipal mayor, and the LC V district chairperson.
RDC Nsubuga explained that the tallying will begin with municipality ward councilors, followed by municipal division councilors, then the municipality mayor, LC V district councilors, and finally the LC V district chairperson. He urged all candidates and their agents to remain disciplined to ensure a peaceful and smooth process.
The NRM elections officer for Rukungiri District, Elias Katureebe, declared several candidates unopposed. These include Consolata Tumuheirwe as woman councilor for Kagashe Ward, Owera Oliva for Rwakabengo Ward, Constance Tumusiime as woman councilor for Ndorero and Kanyinya Wards, Moreen Kyarisima as woman councilor for Karangaro Ward, Fred Besigye for Northern B Ward, and Levina Kobusheshe for Kyatoko Ward.

Others are Innocent Muhwezi for Kagashe Ward, Patrick Nakukunda for Southern Ward, Moses Tumukunde for Southern Kanyinya Ward, Andrew Muhanga for Northern Ward, and Moreen Asiimwe for Kitimba Ward.
Katureebe also announced that Sanyu Annet was declared the NRM flag bearer for municipal woman councilor for Kitimba and Kinyasano Wards after defeating Cliff Mwesigye with 666 votes against his 632.
By the time this story was compiled, declaration forms from many sub-counties had not yet arrived at the tally center. At that moment, the electoral team was still tallying votes for Rukungiri Municipality wards.
