President Museveni Urges Public to Use PDM Funds for Income Generation, Not Social Needs
Kanungu: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has cautioned the public against misusing the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds for social needs like medical bills, school fees, and weddings. He emphasized that the funds are meant to help households generate income and fight poverty.
Speaking on his second day in Kigezi Sub-region while visiting PDM beneficiary Kenneth Ayesigwa in Kazindiro cell, Eastern Ward, Nyamirama Town Council, Kanungu District, on February 13, Museveni explained that PDM funds should focus on income-generating activities. He added that once poverty is reduced, the government might consider providing funds for social needs at the parish level.
President Museveni also reminded the public of the 1996 Four-Acre Presidential Initiative, which encourages Ugandans to use small pieces of land for profitable ventures such as coffee, fruit farming, livestock grazing, and poultry. He highlighted this as an effective model to eradicate poverty.
