Poor services irritate Rukungiri municipality Residents.

Rukungiri: Residents of Western division in Rukungiri Municipality have expressed dissatisfaction over poor services in their area which they say have made life hard for them.

Residents were speaking to our reporter who had paid a courtesy visit to the division to establish the state of social services following several complaints from the area.

Karoli Tibebuza from Nyakihanga cell decried the poor state of roads in their area and failure by the government to connect them to the national power grid.

Similarly, Robert Kwikiriza and Venansio Kabagambe, both residents of Kahororo cell in Karangaro ward, western division, Rukungiri Municipality told our reporter that water scarcity has greatly hit their area.

These revealed that despite massively supporting the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in the previous elections, they have gained nothing much in return but rather disappointment.

Elderly Kato Nyansio Babigyenda from the same area also complained of roads in a sorry state and lack of clean water sources like bore holes and piped water.

Residents now want the government to come to their rescue before they contract water born diseases and fall prey to criminals because of darkness, caused by having no electricity in their area.

While responding to the residents’ concerns, Andrew Ankunda Kikira, the Rukungiri Municipality MP hopeful acknowledged the existence of these problems and attributed them to failure by elected leaders to put the government under pressure while demanding for the services.

He said in all the areas where he has already visited, residents are grappling with poor services including bad roads, health facilities in a wanting state and school with collapsing walls.
