Political leaders praise Timuzigu over his decision to leave politics.
Ntungamo: Political leaders have commended Timuzugu Micheal Kamugisha, the Member of Parliament Kajara County for remaining true to his words by willfully accepting to leave active politics upon the expiry of this term.
In July 2022, Timuzigu announced that he will not contest in the 2026 elections noting that he wants to leave space for other people to serve the people of Kanjara County.
Timuzigu indicated that he doesn’t believe in the policy of staying long in power saying that the country has many capable leaders that can stir it to the next stage of development.
Speaking on Wednesday at the funeral service of late Beneth Baryahabwe, the mother of a prominent journalist Dickson Baryahabwe in Rwashamaire, Kajara county of Ntungamo District, the former presidential aspirant Maj Gen (Rtd) Mugisha Muntu said that there are many people in Uganda who will be ashamed because of their failure to leave power. He applauded Timuzigu for taking the decision to leave office of Member of Parliament upon expiry of this term despite the power temptations. He described most current leaders in the country as hypocrites.
Speaking at the same function, the Member of Parliament for Buhweju County Francis Mwijukye said there are few leaders in Uganda that can leave power for others. He said that everything in the country is currently messy and that the nation is divided in all aspects of life.
