Police in Rukiga nets two over murder
Rukiga: Police in Rukiga have arrested two people in connection to the death of a 40 year old man.
The deceased has been identified as Martin Tumwekwase, a resident of Kasoni cell, Rwenyangi Parish, Kamwezi sub county, Rukiga district.
The two arrested individuals are Guston Asiimwe and Ruth Aharizira both of the same address.
According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, it is alleged that the deceased was married to Ruth Aharizira but they later separated.
The man was residing in Kamwezi trading centre and the woman rented in Omurutare Cell.
The deceased was however last seen in the centre on the 11th November 2023 at around 09:00 pm with both suspects at the bar of a business man only identified as Didas which they left heading home, but in the morning, he was found dead in his house.
Police was informed by Bonnie Tugumisirize, the area chairperson Kasoni cell and preceded to the scene. The body was retrieved and postmortem done at Kamwezi Health Centre IV.
A case of murder has since been registered at Rukiga central police station under reference number CRB 466/2023 as Inquiries into the matter are at hand.
