PLU Rukungiri Leaders Pledge Support for NRM Flag Bearers.

Rukungiri: The Rukungiri District Executive Committee of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has resolved to support all National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearers in the district ahead of the upcoming general elections.

The decision was made during a closed-door meeting held this afternoon October 16, at Rukungiri Inn Hotel in Rukungiri Municipality. The meeting was attended by the Rukungiri District NRM Chairperson and Minister for Security, Rtd. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi Katugugu.

Speaking to our reporter shortly after the meeting, the PLU Rukungiri District Chairperson Innocent Turyahabwe, commonly known as Kaino who is also the NRM LC3 Chairperson flag bearer for Bugangari Sub-county, said the main purpose of the meeting was to unite all PLU members behind NRM flag bearers.

The LC2 Chairperson for Karangaro Ward and PLU District Executive Advisor Eddy Misho, together with PLU District Mobilizer and Councilor for Kigaga Ward Abraham Baryajunwa, who is also the NRM flag bearer, explained that PLU was not formed to oppose the ruling NRM party. Instead, it was established as a patriotic platform to promote national interests and offer leadership continuity in case of future transitions.

They called on all PLU members to mobilize, support, and vote for NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming elections.
