PK fuel Station Catches fire, Millions lost in property.
Ntungamo: Millions of shillings were on Sunday 10th March 2024 lost in property after PK fuel station at Ikona trading centre in Kagongi parish, Rugarama sub-county, Ntungamo district caught fire.
Eye witnesses say the vehicle that had brought fuel to refill the fuel station went ablaze and fire later spread to the surrounding areas causing unpreventable property damage.
Mugyenyi Darius, one of the eye witnesses told our reporter that on Sunday 10th March 2024 around 07:00pm, they got information from another person whom he was unable to identify that PK fuel station had caught fire. At that time, Mugyenyi says they were watching a football match between Liverpool and Man city in the nearby hall.
He further revealed that they ran to the fuel station and tried to put off the fire but a heavy damage had already been registered.
Annet Ninsiima, a restaurant owner in Ikona trading centre revealed that after the incident at the station, the driver drove away the burning vehicle and parked it in Omukoona trading centre in Kasaana west II, along Rubare-Kisiizi road where the vehicle was left burn to ashes.
By the time of compiling this report, the cause of fire was yet to be established and our efforts to get comment from police proved futile after the known phone contacts of the Rwizi region police spokesperson Samson Kasasira were unreachable.
