PFF Deputy Speaker in Nyakishenyi Joins NRM, Boosts Party Morale in Rubabo

Rukungiri: The Deputy Speaker of Nyakishenyi Sub County, who doubles as the district councilor representing Kafujo Parish Gedion Tumwesigye, has officially crossed from the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Tumwesigye, who also served as PFF treasurer for Rubabo County and chairperson of councilors in Nyakishenyi Sub County, made the announcement on June 16, during a meeting of NRM members organized by the aspiring Member of Parliament for Rubabo County David Tushabomwe Ndindi. The meeting was held at the Palm Hotel in the Western Division of Rukungiri Municipality.

Explaining his decision, Tumwesigye cited a desire to reunite with friends in the NRM, concerns about lack of fairness and accountability in PFF, and broader issues that affect political parties. He added that such shifts are often influenced by changing ideologies, personal interests, or strategic alliances.

He also noted that before joining PFF, he spent five years as a member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

Speaking at the same event, David Tushabomwe Ndindi welcomed Tumwesigye’s decision to join the NRM, calling it a morale booster for the party and a sign of growing unity. Tushabomwe, who is also the NRM Chairperson for Nyarushanje Sub County, emphasized that the party is open to welcoming anyone willing to work together for the development of Rubabo County.
