Parents Urged to Support and Guide Children During Long Holiday

Rukungiri: Parents have been encouraged to financially support their children and act as good role models during this long holiday. The call was made on December 17, by the Rukungiri District Inspector of Schools in charge of Guidance and Counseling, Ronald Twesigye.

Speaking to our news reporter at the Rukungiri District headquarters, Twesigye said many children are neglected during holidays, which affects their academic performance and future success.

He reminded parents that schools will  reopen on February 2, 2026, urging them to keep close communication with their children and support them so they return to school next term without challenges.

Meanwhile, the Inspector of Schools in charge of Special Needs in Rukungiri District Local Government, Peace Kembabazi, advised parents to provide nutritious meals for their children and ensure they have enough food even during the school term.

She warned parents against neglect and encouraged them to teach their children useful skills, such as knitting for girls and building skills for boys, which may help them in the future.

Kembabazi also emphasized the importance of protecting children by keeping them safe at home and limiting unnecessary movements.
