Parents Urged to Groom Children Responsibly to Curb Domestic Violence.

Rukungiri: The aspiring Woman Member of Parliament for Rukungiri District, Hon. Nuwagaba Annah Tumuramye, has called on parents to take full responsibility for grooming their children into responsible and productive citizens.

Nuwagaba made the remarks on May 10, during the belated International Women’s Day celebrations held at Bugangari Sub-county Playground. The event was organized by the Rukungiri District Women’s League and attracted hundreds of women from different parts of the district.

Speaking in an interview with our reporter, Nuwagaba emphasized that parents have a key role in shaping the future of their children. She noted that proper upbringing not only helps children become self-reliant but also prepares them to handle family responsibilities, which could help reduce the increasing cases of domestic violence in the region.

Nuwagaba said that Children need to be guided, taught values, and supported to grow into responsible individuals so that they can be able to build peaceful families in the future, and this will greatly reduce the domestic violence that has become common in our communities.

She also urged fellow women to stand firm and play active roles in both community and national development, saying that the empowerment of women begins from the family level.
