Over 100 awarded DIT certificates under PACEID program in Kigezi.
Rukungiri: A total of 110 people from Kigezi sub-region sponsored under the presidential advisory committee on exports and industrial development (PACEID) program were on Monday 18th March 2024 awarded with Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) certificates.
In a function held at the former residence of the Rukungiri district chairperson in Eastern division, Rukungiri municipality and presided over by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Rukungiri Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom, different people were given different certificates in different fields such as farming, shoe making, tailoring among others.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Deputy RDC Rukungiri Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom emphasized the importance of practical knowledge and said the certificates which were given out are a sign of experience.

The PACEID program co-ordinator for Kigezi sub-region George Mugarura said this project started in 2022 with the aim of increasing Uganda’s exports.

Erick Matsiko, the program co-ordinator for western Uganda said the project targets people with skills irrespective of their level of education and appealed to those who have not yet benefited but have skills to come and register so that they can be awarded certificates.

Meanwhile the program beneficiaries including Simpson Amanya, Eliot Tibenderana and Jolly Masheija thanked president Museveni for introducing this program adding that they have benefitted much from it.

PACEID was launched by president Museveni on 16th March 2024 to address and overcome the strategic and operational bottlenecks that impede Uganda from fully harnessing it’s industrial and export potential.
The program is led by the presidential advisor on special duties Odrek Rwabwogo.
