Nyakishenyi Residents Pledge Support for Midius Natukunda Ahead of 2026 Elections

Rukungiri: Residents of Nyakishenyi Sub-county in Rukungiri District have pledged their full support to the incumbent Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata, as she seeks re-election in the 2026 general elections.

Natukunda is contesting as an independent candidate after losing the NRM flag to Mary Paul Kebirungi.

The commitment was made on January 11, during Naturinda’s mobilisation tour in Rwanyondo Parish, where she addressed residents and highlighted her achievements during her term of office. The residents expressed confidence in her leadership and service delivery record.

During the campaign, Natukunda visited Kyondo Cell in Nyakishenyi Sub-county, as well as Nyamabare, Rugasha, Bubare, and Bugoro Cell at Burambira Trading Centre in Rwanyondo Parish.

She outlined key achievements, including improvement of local roads, advocacy for better health services, expansion of water access, support for women groups, and scholarships for Senior Four and Senior Six students.

Natukunda urged residents to entrust her with another term, pledging to continue promoting service delivery and development projects across Rukungiri District. She said she remains confident that voters will respond to her message, emphasizing that her focus is on development and service delivery rather than party affiliation.

Local leaders, including the LC1 Chairperson for Bugoro Cell Moses Ndemera, the NRM flag bearer for Rwanyondo Parish Moreen Niwabiine, LC1 Chairperson for Kinisya Cell Friday Kamushaba, The coordinator for Medius Natukunda in Nyakishenyi Geoffrey Tugume and, the LC1 Chairperson for Shogashoga Cell David Niwagaba pledged their support.

They called upon Natukunda to continue supporting education, noting that education is the most lasting legacy families can give their children.
