Nyabiteete SSS Old Students Reunite to Inspire Learners and Develop School Infrastructure
Rukungiri: Old students of Nyabiteete Senior Secondary School have reunited under their association, the Nyabiteete Old Students Association (NOSA), to inspire current students and contribute to the school’s infrastructure development.
During the reunion function held at the school in Nyabiteete Parish, Buyanja Sub County in Rukungiri District on April 18, the Director of Teejo Investments Limited in Kampala and an old student Caleb Kukundakwe, advised students to stay close to their parents and share their life challenges with them instead of turning to the wrong people.
Kukundakwe warned that some students, in search of support, end up opening up to sugar daddies, sugar mummies, or even peers who may take advantage of them or expose them to diseases. He emphasized the importance of parental guidance for the safety and wellbeing of the students.

The old students’ representative on the school board, Engineer Kiiza Isaac, highlighted the main goals of the reunion. He said the event is intended to motivate current learners to perform better through activities such as donating textbooks and offering regular career guidance sessions.
Kiiza noted that this is the beginning of what will become an annual event, with the long-term goal of constructing school structures and carrying out other developmental projects.

The Headteacher of Nyabiteete SSS Sabiti Epaphras, appreciated the alumni’s efforts and outlined some of the school’s ongoing projects, including tea and banana plantations, which generate income for the school. However, he pointed out major challenges, especially the lack of a boarding section.
Epaphras said many students are vulnerable and struggle to afford school fees and other necessities. He added that the absence of a boarding section has led some students to transfer to other schools, despite their interest in staying at Nyabiteete.

The reunion event concluded with a friendly football match between old students and teachers, which ended in a 1-1 draw after full time.
The school, which was founded in 1981 by the church of Uganda, currently has over 700 students across both O-Level and A-Level.
