Nyabiteete SS Head teacher Raises Concern Over Lack of Boarding Facilities

Rukungiri: The head teacher of Nyabiteete Senior Secondary School, located in Nyabiteete Parish, Buyanja Sub-county in Rukungiri District, has expressed concern about the challenges students face due to the absence of a boarding section at the school.

According to the school headteacher Sabiiti Empaphras, the school has a large student population, particularly girls, many of whom travel long distances every day. This has exposed them to various risks, including sexual harassment and insecurity, especially in the early morning and late evening hours.

The situation has also led some students to seek accommodation near the school, which has resulted in cases of students living with their boyfriends or girlfriends, raising concerns over discipline and academic focus.

The Chairperson of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), Peter Kensi, reported that many students leave the school due to the absence of boarding facilities, which hinders academic progress. He called for government intervention to support the development of the school and improve the learning environment for students.

Nyabiteete Senior Secondary School is a government-aided institution, established in 1981 on a church foundation, and currently has over 700 students enrolled in both O-Level and A-Level sections.
