Nyabiteete Old Students Raise UGX 3 Million for Girls’ Dormitory
Rukungiri: Old students of Nyabiteete Senior Secondary School have reunited under the Nyabiteete Old Students Association (NOSA) to support school development and inspire learners.
During a reunion held on April 3 at the school in Nyabiteete Parish, members contributed over UGX 3 million towards the construction of a girls’ dormitory aimed at improving accommodation for learners.
The Guest of Honour, Andrew Bihandiiko, who travelled from Kigali, encouraged students to remain disciplined, noting that discipline motivates teachers to dedicate more time to them. He also urged the school management to always reach out to old students for support, emphasizing their willingness to help the institution grow.
The Headteacher, Sabiiti Epaphras, welcomed the contribution, saying it will boost morale among current learners and improve academic performance, especially for students who travel long distances. He, however, highlighted ongoing challenges including inadequate accommodation, limited classroom space, and insufficient furniture, appealing for continued support from stakeholders.
The Chairperson of NOSA, Gilliad Bwirizayo Baregire, encouraged members to form class-based WhatsApp groups to strengthen coordination and information sharing among alumni. He thanked contributors for their generosity and urged students to stay focused on their goals, remain close to their parents, and seek guidance when facing life challenges.
Founded in 1981 by the Church of Uganda, the school currently has over 751 students across both O-Level and A-Level.
