
NRM Flag Bearer Leonard Muhunguzi Nominated for Mayor of Kebisoni Town Council
Rukungiri: The National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, Leonard Muhunguzi, has been officially nominated to contest for the position of Mayor for Kebisoni Town Council in Rukungiri District.
Muhunguzi’s nomination took place on September 15, 2025, at the Rukungiri District Headquarters, where he was duly cleared by the District Returning Officer, Abas K. Namanya, during the ongoing Electoral Commission (EC) nomination exercise.
Speaking shortly after his nomination, Muhunguzi pledged to prioritize infrastructure development and social services if elected. He noted that upgrading roads, schools, and health facilities would be top on his agenda.
He also highlighted the persistent challenge of limited access to clean water in Kebisoni Town Council, promising to advocate for long-term solutions. Muhunguzi further emphasized the importance of expanding electricity coverage, noting that he envisions making Kebisoni a model town council for both the district and the wider region.
Calling upon residents to rally behind his candidature, Muhunguzi described himself as the most eligible leader who fully understands the pressing challenges faced by the people of Kebisoni.
