No Government College or University in Rujumbura- Magezi Herbert Promises to Change That

Rukungiri: The aspiring Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County, Magezi Herbert, has expressed concern over the lack of government institutions for higher learning in the constituency, saying it has greatly hindered access to education for learners, especially those from needy families.

Speaking in an interview with our reporter shortly after his nomination on October 22 as an independent candidate, Magezi noted that Rujumbura currently has no government university, college, or technical institute to provide higher education and practical skills to the youth within the community.

He pledged to lobby for the establishment of a government higher learning institution in Rujumbura to offer certificates, diplomas, and degree programs, as well as vocational training that would empower young people with employable skills.

Magezi also promised to advocate for scholarships to support students from low-income families who cannot afford to study outside the district.

He further emphasized the need for a young and vibrant leader who can deliver essential services to the people of Rujumbura. His priorities include improving access to clean water in Bugangari, Bwambara, and parts of Ruhinda Sub-county, extending electricity to all villages to support small businesses such as salons, welding, and factories, strengthening cooperatives for boda boda riders and mothers, and promoting agriculture by providing free coffee seedlings and incubators to the youth to start poultry farming as a business.
