NCHE grants charter to MIU
Kisoro: Metropolitan International University has been granted a charter by the National Council for Higher education –NHCE, the body responsible for overseeing operations of tertiary institutions in the country.
According to Metropolitan international university Vice chancellor Dr Julius Arinaitwe, the journey to have a charter started in 2019. He says that it is good news, elevating the institution to a level that makes it comparable to a public one, in line with the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act.
He adds that the achievement was possible because of the tireless efforts by Members of the Charter Steering Committee, staff in upholding the highest standards of academic excellence, innovation, and service to the community. He noted that the achievement would not have been possible without the dedication, expertise, and passion that staff brought at the university.
Dr Arinaitwe adds that this will help the University to teach terminal degrees, masters and PhDs without restrictions and students will access students’ government loans and pay later after getting loans.
