Mysterious death of man cause Police investigations in Rukungiri.
Rukungiri: Police in Rukungiri are hunting for unknown assailant(s) who are suspected to have murdered Andrew Twijukye, 32 years.
The deceased according to the Kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate was a casual labourer and resident of kakoma cell, Burombe parish, Ruhinda sub-county, Rukungiri district.
It is alleged that on 24th May 2024, the deceased and Akampurira Godwin alias God were guarding road construction materials at Kakoma trading centre and the following day which was 25th May 2024 at around 08:00 hours, they were paid Twenty thousand Shs 20,000 each.
The duo later went to the bar in Kakoma trading centre where they buzzed up at about 17:00 hours when Akampurira went away, leaving the deceased drinking.
However the deceased never returned home until on Friday May 31, 2024 at around 08:00 hours, when Komwaro Rosette, a mother to the deceased informed Nyangira David, the deceased’s paternal uncle who reported the disappearance case at Ruhinda police post.
Maate further indicates that police advised Nyangira to put radio announcements and continue searching for the victim.
On Friday May 31, 2024 at around 17:00 hours when Nyangira was tracing around, he discovered the dead body of the victim in the bushy farm of Rwamagaya catholic church and he notified police.
The scene of crime was visited and documented, body conveyed to Rwakabengo Health center III mortuary for postmortem.
ASP Maate has since urged any person with clues that can lead police to the perpetrators to the volunteer the information so that those involved are apprehended and charged accordingly.
A case of suspected Murder was registered at Rukungiri Central Police Station (CPS) under reference number CRB: 670/2024
Inquiries into the matter are at hand.
