Muhwezi’s suspected murderer further remanded.
Rukungiri:The Rukungiri grade one magistrate’s court has today Monday 05th Febuary 2024 adjourned the hearing of a case in which William Sebikaru is accused of murdering Justus Muhwezi.
Ssebikalu is accused of intentionally knocking Muhwezi who was the manager at Rukungiri Kings Hotel located in Rwobusisi cell, Kyamakanda parish, buyanja sub-county, Rukungiri district over suspecting him of engaging him in sexual affairs with her lover Patience Nabimanya, an accountant of the same hotel.
On 18th December 2023 at around 11:30 am, while Muhwezi was on a motorcycle registration number UFM 373V Bajaj boxer heading to work, after bypassing KASI petrol station along Rukungiri-Ntungamo road, Sebikaru followed him while driving his vehicle Toyota Harrier UBH 562 C and intentionally knocked him from behind.
Muhwezi was immediately rushed to Karoli Lwanga hospital Nyakibale in critical conditions where he was pronounced dead shortly after being admitted.
After knocking Muhwezi, the suspect Sebikaru drove off but was later arrested by police from his hiding place in Kampala on the 27th December 2023.
On the morning of 28th December 2023, Rukungiri Police retrieved him from Kampala and has been on remand awaiting the court’s final judgement.
However when the case was brought before her worship Edith Mary Mbabazi for further hearing today, it was adjourned to 19th February 2024 over absence of the Resident state Attorney.
