Minister Magezi Commends Rukungiri Leaders for Teamwork in Government Programme Implementation

Rukungiri: The Minister of Local Government, Hon. Raphael Magezi, has applauded political leaders in Rukungiri District for their cooperation and teamwork in implementing government programmes.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by the Commissioner for District Administration in the Ministry of Local Government, Paul Oket Okello, on June 28, in Buhandazi, Nyabiteete Parish, Buyanja Sub county, Okello praised Rukungiri’s political leaders, technical staff, and the community for mobilizing funds and working together to complete the Buyanja Sub county headquarters.

Minister Magezi expressed great appreciation for the milestone achievement, saying the relocation of the Sub-County headquarters brings services closer to the people. He pledged continued ministry support to Buyanja Sub-County in the near future.

He also appealed to the people of Rukungiri to embrace mature politics, avoid conflicts that sometimes result in unnecessary loss of life, and elect leaders who are committed to implementing government policies and programmes.

Magezi warned sub county leaders against illegally granting land leases to individuals or companies without the knowledge of district officials. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding government property.

Buyanja Sub-County Chairperson Agaba Emmy Rubondo thanked the people of Buyanja for their genuine contributions towards completing the Sub-County headquarters. He urged the government to continue supporting the area by constructing staff houses to ensure residents access quicker and closer services.

The aspiring district councillor for Buyanja Sub county Kiiza Kirema, pledged his full support to the sub county and promised to lobby for funds to renovate dilapidated bridges and schools in poor condition.

A total of 37 million shillings was raised during the fundraising ceremony to support ongoing development efforts in the sub county.
