Minister Jim Muhwezi Urges Public to Embrace PDM to Fight Poverty
Rukungiri: The Minister for Security, Hon. Retired Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, has urged leaders and the public to embrace and prioritize the Parish Development Model (PDM) as a key strategy to fight poverty in communities.
Minister Muhwezi made these remarks on March 11, during the second day of his ongoing baraza (community engagement) meetings in Rujumbura Constituency. He met with residents of Kitimba, Kabwoma, and Kiyaga parishes in Nyakagyeme Sub county, addressing them at Bucence Church of Uganda and Nyakagyeme Sub county headquarters.
He emphasized the importance of government programs like PDM, which aim to uplift people from poverty. He reassured the public that each beneficiary should receive UGX 1,000,000 without any deductions and urged them to report anyone demanding money in the process of accessing these funds.

Speaking in an interview with our news reporter after engaging with the locals, Minister Muhwezi explained that he organized these barazas to educate people about essential services such as water, electricity, roads, and PDM. He noted that these meetings help people understand government policies and the progress of development programs. He described the barazas as interactive and beneficial to both leaders and the community.
