Minister Jim Muhwezi Loses NRM Veterans League Seat to Lt. Moses Mushabe

Rukungiri: The Minister of Security, Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Jim Muhwezi, has lost his seat as Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Veterans League to Lt. (Rtd.) Moses Mushabe, the NRM chairman of Isingiro District.

In a hotly contested election within the party’s internal structures, Mushabe secured 532 votes against Gen. Muhwezi’s 222, bringing an end to Muhwezi’s long tenure at the helm of the Veterans League.

Mushabe’s victory is being seen as both a generational shift and a vote of confidence in his pledge to prioritize the welfare of war veterans.

He has promised to tackle long-standing concerns about healthcare, livelihoods, and the general living conditions of ex-servicemen issues he says have been neglected for years.
