Minister Jim Muhwezi Donates Scholastic Materials to Orphaned Children
Rukungiri: The Minister for Security, Hon. Jim Muhwezi Katugugu together with Nile Humanitarian Development Agency, have donated scholastic materials to four orphaned children studying at Rukungiri Primary School.
The donated items included metallic cases, blankets, bed sheets, shoes, books, pens, school uniforms, and financial support for their school lunch.
During the handover ceremony on February 10, which took place at Rukungiri Main Mosque in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality, the minister was represented by his political assistant, Isaac Kaharuza.
Kaharuza explained that the beneficiaries are children of the late Imam of Bwambara Main Mosque, whose mother abandoned them after their father’s death. Their plight was highlighted in the media, prompting Minister Muhwezi to offer assistance. He also allowed the children to choose a school of their preference, pledging to support their education.

Rukungiri District Kadhi, Sheikh AbdulMalik Byaruhanga Kayole, appreciated the donation, noting that such support helps needy learners stay in school and focus on their studies.

The headteacher of Rukungiri Primary School, Siraji Kiconco, also thanked Minister Muhwezi for his generosity. He noted that while the school is government-aided, many learners struggle due to a lack of basic necessities like clothing, books, pens, and shoes. He encouraged other well-wishers to extend support to more vulnerable children.
Two of the beneficiaries, Sarimu Natukuma and Lukia Akamumpa, expressed their gratitude to the minister. They revealed that they had dropped out of school due to a lack of support but are now happy to resume their education, thanks to the donation.
