Minister Jim Muhwezi Completes 100% Campaign Rallies in Rujumbura Ahead of 2026 Elections

Rukungiri: The Minister for Security and incumbent Rujumbura County Member of Parliament, Rtd. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, accompanied by his wife Canon Susan Muhwezi, has successfully covered 100 percent of his campaign rallies across Rujumbura Constituency as he seeks what he has described as his final term before his planned retirement in 2031.

Minister Muhwezi concluded his campaign meetings on January 8 in Kitimba and Kigaga parishes in Nyakagyeme Sub-county, where residents turned up in large numbers to show support ahead of the 2026 parliamentary and presidential general elections scheduled for January 15.

The Minister has now completed campaign rallies in all five sub-counties and two town councils within Rujumbura Constituency. He has visited all the 361 villages across 47 parishes, making him one of the few candidates to fully cover the entire constituency.

The areas covered include Bugangari, Buhunga, Bwambara, Ruhinda, and Nyakagyeme sub-counties, as well as Bikurungu and Rwerere town councils.

During his campaign meetings, Minister Muhwezi pledged to extend water and electricity to all villages in the constituency. He revealed that surveys have already been completed and that extension works have commenced in some areas.

He also promised to advocate for the splitting of Rujumbura Constituency into two constituencies to improve service delivery, lobby for an additional road unit, and continue pushing for improvements in other key community services.
