Millennium security company guard arrested over murder
Rukungiri: Police in Rukungiri have in detention Nicholas Ainembabazi a security guard attached to Millennium security company who is alleged to have murdered a 22-year-old Kenneth Masanyu, a resident of Kyobugombe cell, Kamahuri parish, Rugarama North, sub-county, Ntungamo district.
It’s alleged that on the 05th March 2024 at around 10:00 pm while in Rugoma cell, Southern division, Kebisoni town council, the deceased who had gone to visit his uncle Bitomwe Charles crossed through a banana plantation going to his grand mother’s home identified as Bitama Feredansi.
While on his way, he got confused with the path and ended up in the banana plantation near the compound of Kazaire Julius that is being guarded by guards of Millennium Security Company in the same area.
When the security guard Nicholas Ainembabazi stopped and ordered him to sit down, he remained standing, prompting Ainembabazi to shoot him directly resulting in his instant demise.
Police officers at Rukungiri central police station swung into action after being informed by the area manager Millennium Security Company Eria Tumwesigye. They visited the crime scene, examined and documented it.
Statements were further recorded from eye witnesses leading to the arrest of the suspect.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed the incident and further said that investigations into the matter are under way.
Meanwhile the deceased’s body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Centre III mortuary for postmortem.
