Man Detained in Rukungiri for Allegedly Killing Wife Over Infidelity

Rukungiri: The Police in Rukungiri District have detained a man identified as Tuhamize Sperius a resident of Nyabakobora village in Bwanga Parish, Nyarushanje Sub-county over alleged murder of his wife Kiiza Doreen which occurred on January 14.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that alleged that on the night of 13^th January 2025, at Nyabakobora village, the Tuhamize  developed a domestic quarrel with the wife accusing her of infidelity,  he picked a stick and assaulted her to death.

It is reported that the suspect closed the house and reported himself at Kiyenje Police Post on January 14, and informed them of his actions and the OC Police called the area Chairperson Kanohire Benson to first check the condition of the victim at her home who went with his brother Byakoramu Wilson and confirmed that indeed Kiiza Doreen was dead.

A case of murder was registered and the scene of crime was visited and documented and statements recorded from witnesses and an exhibit of a stick was recovered at the crime scene and the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center III Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Maate explained that inquiries are ongoing and upon completion, the suspect will be arraigned before courts of law and answer charges accordingly.
