Kyatoko COU Parish Welcomes Rev. Edson Ampaire as New Priest
Rukungiri: Christians from the four sub-parishes of Kyatoko Church of Uganda (COU) Parish in Rujumbura Archdeaconry, under North Kigezi Diocese, warmly welcomed Rev. Edson Ampaire as their new parish priest. Rev. Ampaire joins Kyatoko from the Missions Department in the Bishop’s Office.
Speaking on behalf of Kyatoko Christians on January 18, Gershom Twesigye, the head of laity, thanked the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, for assigning Rev. Ampaire to their parish. Gershom expressed joy at receiving a priest of his caliber and highlighted the positive impact Rev. Ampaire had as Diocesan Missions Coordinator, where he spread the gospel and brought many people back to church. He encouraged the new priest to strengthen mission work in Kyatoko COU Parish.
The Archdeacon of Rujumbura Archdeaconry Ven. Dickson Kakanyisa, also praised Rev. Ampaire’s work in the diocese. He hinted that Rev. Ampaire might not stay long at Kyatoko Parish as the diocese is considering his elevation. He urged Christians to make the most of Rev. Ampaire’s leadership to develop their church before his next transfer.

In his remarks, Rev. Edson Ampaire appreciated the warm welcome from Kyatoko Christians, saying it demonstrated their love for God’s servants. He revealed that after five years in the Missions Department, Kyatoko Parish is his first parish assignment. He called on Christians to offer guidance, support, and unity to achieve growth and development in their church.
