Kampala: Kyambogo University is set to graduate 11,721 students during its 20th graduation ceremony, scheduled to run for four days beginning December 10 at the university’s main campus in Banda, Kampala.
Speaking to journalists on December 4, Vice Chancellor Prof. Eli Katunguka revealed that this year’s graduates include 6,017 females and 5,704 males, reflecting an increase of 795 from last year’s total of 10,926 graduates.
The ceremony will feature the conferment of eight Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees and 219 master’s degrees across various fields, underscoring the institution’s growing academic output.
Prof. Katunguka assured the public that preparations for the ceremony are complete, emphasizing security measures and advising attendees against bringing large bags.
This year’s graduation, unlike the traditional three-day schedule, will span four days to accommodate the growing number of graduates.
Meanwhile, Kampala Metropolitan East Regional Traffic Officer Israel Wambesyo has urged the public to avoid routes leading to Kyambogo University during the graduation period to reduce traffic congestion and disruptions.
