Kinyaasano Girls High School Shines Again
Rukungiri: The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev Onesimus Asiimwe has implored students to set goals and pursue them, so that they can prosper in whatever they do.
Bishop Asiimwe was on Friday speaking to students of Kinyaasano Girls High School where he had gone to congratulate them upon the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education performance and to welcome new students. The school registered 38 students for UCE, 12 of which passed in grade one.
Kinyaasano Girls High School belongs to North Kigezi Diocese and the bishop has been spearheading it’s rising again, after years of backsliding both in numbers and academics.
By Friday 16th Febuary 2024 in the morning hours, enrolment in Senior One alone was 250 students and the total school enrollment had hit 500. This is the first time in the history of the school for students to report to senior one in such a big number.
The Bishop said people fail not because of lack of talent but because they have no purpose in life.
The Bishop also revealed that Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyaasano which is under construction will be roofed by end of this year.
The bishop was extremely happy that the school was regaining it’s glory, and challenged teachers to do their work.
The school head teacher Allen Kiyasimire commended bishop Onesimus Asiimwe for spearheading the advocacy for the school, and also putting up a Bishop’s scholarship fund, through which some girls have joined the school.
Kiyasimire also revealed that the old girls association had attracted a number of the girls, most of them with first grades and very good second grades. She is optimistic that many more are still coming to join the school, more so hopes they will have the best performance ever at the end of their O-Level.
The parents-teachers association (PTA) chairperson Ruth Kwesiga Asiimwe noted that they are determined to see the school rise again, and the 2023 performance is an indicator of the same. She asked for cooperation amongst staff and parents and all school stakeholders for the betterment of the school.
