Kigezi Youth Leaders Undergo Week-Long Ideological Orientation Training

Rukungiri: Kigezi Youth Leaders have commenced a seven-day ideological orientation training at St. Gerald’s SS Nyakibale in Rukungiri District, running from Monday, December 1, to Sunday, December 7, 2025.

The training has drawn participants from all six districts of the Kigezi sub-region, including Rukungiri, Kanungu, Rukiga, Kabale, Rubanda, and Kisoro.

During day two of the course on December 2, UPDF Political Education Instructor Major Igonzi Kaweesa emphasized that leaders must be able to assess the behavior of those they lead, understand their own beliefs, question the assumptions behind them, and appreciate how ideology shapes society.

Major Kaweesa urged youth leaders to practice self-reflection, examine their personal values, and take charge of their responsibilities. He called on them to be solution-oriented leaders who understand the challenges affecting their communities.

He further noted that the government has introduced several youth programmes aimed at addressing poverty. He challenged leaders who accuse the NRM government of causing poverty to instead undergo ideological training to transform their mindset.

Col. Asaba advised youth leaders to always seek knowledge that will enable them to interpret and address community challenges effectively.
