Rukungiri: Kebisoni Greater has been crowned the champion of the Rwabugumi Boda Boda Tournament after defeating Nyakishenyi Sub-county 2-0 in a thrilling final match.
Thousands of Ugandans gathered at Buyanja Town Council playground to witness the grand finale and praised Hon. Mathias Rwabugumi for organizing and empowering Boda Boda cyclists across Rubabo Constituency through sports.
The tournament, which officially kicked off on March 2, 2025 at Kebisoni Town Council playground, aimed at identifying football talent among Boda Boda riders while also encouraging them to embrace a saving culture for the betterment of their families and communities.
While handing over the trophy to the winning team on April 18, the aspiring member of parliament for Rubabo County Mathias Rwabugumi urged Ugandans to vote for experienced leaders rather than being swayed by money handouts from candidates who often fail to deliver once elected.
Rwabugumi shared his political journey, noting that he has served as the district councilor for Nyarushanje Sub-county and also held the position of Minister for Health at the district level. He emphasized that his experience equips him well to represent Rubabo in Parliament.

He thanked all Boda Boda cyclists for their discipline and active participation throughout the tournament and pledged to continue supporting youth and sports development in the district.
The Vice Chancellor of Kabale University Professor Mondo Kagonyera who was the chief guest at the event applauded Hon. Rwabugumi for his contributions to the community, especially in the health sector, including the provision of sanitary pads to girls and women in the district.
Prof. Mondo likened Rwabugumi to a sweet cake, telling the people of Rubabo that they have a choice to either keep enjoying it or throw it away.
The tournament winners received a trophy and UGX 2 million in cash. The second runners-up walked away with UGX 1.5 million, while the third and fourth runners-up each received UGX 500,000.
The day ended with exciting performances from popular artists, led by Dr. Jose Chameleone and DJ Mercy Pro, among others.
