Rukungiri: Kagunga Seed Secondary School has officially bid farewell to its former headteacher, Hassan Semugenyi, who was transferred to Ndorwa Secondary School in Kabale District in October 2025. The school also awarded teachers for their outstanding performance in the 2025 UCE and UACE examinations.

The farewell and prize-giving ceremony was held on April 6, at the school premises in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

The Chairperson of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), Jimmy Bagambana, together with the Board Committee Chairperson who doubles as the LC3 Chairperson-elect for Eastern Division, Gershom Twesigye, commended the school administration for improving organization at the school. They emphasized the importance of teamwork, proper use of offices, and leaving a positive legacy. They also encouraged leaders to practice transparency and remain accountable.

The current headteacher, Amos Gumisiriza, the seventh headteacher since the school was founded, praised Semugenyi for the strong foundation he left behind. He noted improvements in discipline among students, increased enrollment, better cooperation with stakeholders, and good relations with the surrounding community. He pledged to continue working hard to further improve the school.

In his remarks, Semugenyi said he worked to eliminate teacher absenteeism and lateness, reduce student strikes, and strengthen discipline, which contributed to the school’s progress. He encouraged the current headteacher to build on these achievements. He also thanked the school for inviting him back for a proper farewell.

Speaking on behalf of the teachers, Leviticus Owomugisha and the Director of Studies, Nebert Musasizi, appreciated the former headteacher and the school committees for their support and guidance. They noted that the school has greatly improved compared to previous years. They also thanked the current headteacher for mentoring and guiding the staff.

Kagunga Seed Secondary School, founded by the Government of Uganda in 2007, offers both O-Level and A-Level education. In 2025, the school performed excellently in the UCE examinations, with all 42 candidates passing in Result One.
